Changing any details of the B/L means amending the manifest, thus needing to submit the changes to the customs and have their approval. Changing the consignee is one of the more complicated procedures, and this article will have a glimpse of how to deal with this matter.

1st step, the forwarder/carrier will amend the manifest on the VNSW (Vietnam national single window). Next, old and new consignees, and the forwarder/carrier prepare the document to present to customs. The document required are:

+ The statement was endorsed by an old consignee, declaring that that shipment is not theirs and they agreed to transfer the ownership to another party. This is to avoid fraud, and to make sure the transfer is not against their will.

+ The statement endorsed by the new consignee, declaring that the shipment is mistakenly shipped to another party, and they are the intended consignee.

+ Statement endorsed by the forwarder/carrier, requesting to amend the manifest

+ Other documents, such as email between parties to prove the reasoning behind the changes.

Forwarders provide all documents to the customs office, it’ll take 1 day to complete the procedure.
