Mesona is primarily used in making grass jelly. The leaves and stems of the plant are dried and oxidized, much like tea, then processed into a jelly. Mesona have been reported to induce anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and anti-diarrhea effects in pre-clinical research, all of which are possible due to the strong antioxidant nature of the extracts.
Production requirements for growers in Vietnam
Growers of mesona should strengthen production management, formulate pest control plans, take timely control measures against pests and remove quarantine weeds in the field. Growers should strengthen harvest management to avoid weeds, plant residues, soil, etc. in mesona.
Registration requirements
The processing enterprises in Vietnam are recommended by The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam to The General Administration of Customs (GACC) of China. GACC will check the recommended documents and send experts to conduct on-site inspections if necessary. Processing enterprises can only export to China after being registered with GACC. Processing, storage and transportation requirements
The cargo exported to China will be packaged and transported according to shipping requirements. Packaging materials should be clean, hygienic and unused. Cargo should be stored separately from other products to avoid infestation by quarantine pests, soil, animal carcasses and feces, animal and plant residues, etc.
Packaging and labeling requirements
Cargo registration number, product name, origin and other information should be indicated on the packaging. Each package should be marked in both Chinese and English.
Entry Inspection and Quarantine in China
Quarantine approval: The importer should apply for the “Entry Animal and Plant Quarantine Permit” before signing the trade contract.
Document verification
+ Check whether the “Entry Animal and Plant Quarantine Permit” is attached;
+ Check whether it is from a registered enterprise;
+ Check whether the phytosanitary certificate is genuine and valid.
