For the import declaration of Vietnamese agarwood, Chinese consignee needs to provide import and export license & enterprise related information.

Before importing Vietnamese agarwood, product classification and HS code classification should be finished.

At the present, China prohibits the export of agarwood, but allows the import of agarwood if the declaration conditions are met. Agarwood and its products should be classified into different commodity codes according to the status of import inspection:

1. Chips or powdered agarwood fragments shall be classified into 12119050.30 code.

2. Firewood-shaped, simple peeled or processed into irregular and twisted agarwood should be classified into 44011200.00 code.

Agarwood logs (whether peeled, sapwood removed or roughly sawn into squares) should be classified into 44039990.12 code.

3. Agarwood wooden bracelets, figurines and other decorations should be classified into corresponding product codes such as 44201011.20 or 44201090.30.

Customs declaration process for importing Vietnamese agarwood chips

First, you need to obtain relevant import and export licenses, and then submit relevant declaration materials in accordance with the requirements of the Chinese customs. Documents needed: Import goods declaration documents, import and export goods list, customs declaration, etc.

Things that needing attention for customs declaration when importing Vietnamese agarwood into China

No matter goods is classified into what kind of HS code, as long as the raw material is agarwood, the “Import Permit for Endangered Species” should be provided. Agarwood should be declared for importation within the validity period of the “Certificate”, and the import quantity should also be within the scope permitted in the “Certificate”.
